Chris Sutton has tonight stated live in BT Sport that Celtic are closing in on the signing of Rosenborg defender Birger Meling after the player was linked with a move to the Scottish Champions this week.

Meling has been on many supporters radars since last season when the club played Rosenborg four times in the same season.

The left back was a stand out at the tine with many wanting Celtic to sign him as back up for Kieran Tierney.

At the tine, Brendan Rodgers brought in Izaguirre for a second spell at the club.

Now with both Tierney and Izzy gone from Celtic Park it appears like the transfer actually might be going ahead.

Sutton was candid on the Bt Sports panel tonight and he said he believed a deal is close.
