Sutton Backtracks on Celtic’s Controversial Summer Signing

CHRIS SUTTON has backtracked just a little bit from his summer ranting over Celtic’s decision to install entertainment lights in the ground when they were struggling to bring players in.

It was the former Celtic striker that dubbed Celtic Park’s new addition as ‘disco lights’ to try and trivialise and disparage the work which had been done on the stadium.

However, as the now pundit took his seat to commentate for BT Sport on Thursday night and the ‘disco lights’ came on the Englishman admitted he quite enjoyed the spectacle.

“I know I was a bit dismissive about the lights back in the summer when the team was crying out for a centre back.” Sutton wrote in his Daily Record column.

“But I actually quite enjoyed the pre-match spectacular. It was a bit different.

“Then again, so was the performance. When the fans were walking away from the ground on Thursday night, it was the sparkling show on the pitch they were talking about rather than the illuminations.”

Celtic put on a fighting and entertaining performance as they beat Leipzig 2-1 on an inspiring evening at Celtic Park.

Leipzig are currently third in the Bundesliga, something which should be taken into account when people try to grasp the gravity of the result.

Goals from Kieran Tierney and Odsonne Edouard sealed the victory for the bhoys and has given them a platform to build on with a path to the last 32 of the competition somewhat paved.
