MOUSSA DEMBELE was a star performer for Lyon this season.
Since leaving Celtic, Dembele has played his part for Lyon and has also been sent to Athletico Madrid on loan for a spell. However, the Frenchman has really come into his own this season for the club and has become their star man.
After a slow start to the season, scoring four goals before the turn of the year, Dembele set the league alight. Since the start of the year, the former Celtic fan favourite has scored seventeen goals, this is more goals than anyone in the top five leagues in Europe.
The Lyon Twitter account tweeted “17 goals in 2022 — the best in Europe”

In a dull season for Lyon, failing to grab a European spot, Dembele was their bright and shining light.

However, it’s going to prove a tricky challenge keeping a hold of the talisman. He’s entering the last year of his contract, and Lyon may be forced to sell if they wish to make any money from the player. Especially with Dembele picking up the blistering form towards the end of the season.
Arriving in France for about £20 million, the team will look to recoup as much of that fee as possible. It’s thought that Celtic have a sell-on clause inserted into the deal, and will receive a chunk of the sum that Lyon receives. However – if Moussa runs down his Lyon contract it would mean no pay day for Celtic.
