Subpar Celtic Draw with St Mirren

In a match that was expected to be a routine victory for the Hoops, Celtic were held to a 2-2 draw by a spirited St. Mirren side at Celtic Park. The result marks the second game in a row where Celtic have failed to hit their usual high standards after clinching the league.

The match began with an early setback for Celtic as St. Mirren’s Curtis Main found the back of the net in the 4th minute. The Hoops managed to respond with a goal from Kyogo in the 14th minute, but the first half ended with St. Mirren in the lead when Main put the away side ahead again.

The second half saw Celtic chasing the game. Despite dominating possession, the Hoops struggled to break down a resolute St. Mirren defence. It wasn’t until the 81st minute that Celtic found an equaliser, courtesy of a long-range effort from captain Callum McGregor.

While McGregor’s goal salvaged a point for Celtic, it did little to mask the team’s overall performance. The Hoops were far from their best, and St. Mirren could have easily walked away with all three points.

That was Celtic’s second draw in a row at Celtic Park after their 1-1 with Motherwell a few weeks ago.

The result is a stark reminder that Celtic cannot afford to take any game for granted. We have been fantastic most of the season, but finding it difficult to maintain the high standards.

Celtic’s recent performances have shown a lack of the dominance and consistency that fans have come to expect. The team will need to refocus ahead of the last two fixtures of the season ahead of the cup final.
