‘Stupid’ – Johan Mjallby Makes Cluj Red Card Claim

CLUJ were sent packing with their tail between their legs on Thursday night in Glasgow and had it not been for an inconsistent referee – it could have been much worse for the visitors.

In a first half incident Cluj player Damjan Djokovic appeared to elbow Scott Brown in the head deliberately during a passage of play. The Celtic captain went down but the referee ended up giving both men a talking to after Brown kept Djokovic on the deck with hi after the challenge.

In the BT studio at half time the camera closed in on the incident and it’s as clear as day – Djokovic should have been sent off and piled on the misery for Cluj.

Speaking in the BT Studio, former Celtic defender Johan Mjallby gave his thoughts as cited by SunSport.

“I’m all for physical challenges but that’s stupid.”

“That’s a straight red card.”

The studio consensus was that Djokovic should have seen red

Celtic went on and won the game comfortably. It was goals by Eddy and Elyounoussi on the night which secured all the points or the home side and leaves Celtic top of their group.
