STUART ARMSTRONG has made the admission he still doesn’t miss the SPFL even though he is currently languishing on the bench at Struggling Southampton and is yet to get on the scoresheet for his new club.

The former Celtic invincible signed a four-year deal with the St Mary’s club and admitted during an interview in the summer that he was sick of playing the same opposition week in, week out in the SPFL.

After making a good impression in pre-season the Scottish midfielder has failed to make the grade so far and has Southampton fans baffled.

Speaking about having to wait for his chance from the bench, Armstrong admitted it was frustrating because he finds it hard to be patient but he’s still not missing the SPFL.

“I wouldn’t say I miss Scottish football. I had my time here I was very grateful for it and had a lot of nice memories,” Armstrong told the BBC.

“It’s always hard when you’re not playing games, not starting games especially, because nobody likes sitting on the bench

“I’m not the most patient. I need to learn to adapt. I’m in a different league – I spent eight years in the Scottish League.”

Armstrong was part of Brendan Rodgers double treble side and really kicked on under the Irishman. His celtic career didn’t get off to a blistering start under Ronny Devils so perhaps he will come good like he did at Celtic Park.

The former Dundee Utd man believes he could have stayed at Celtic his entire career and viewed his footballing time as a success and there’s a different type of pressure between the clubs.

“I would say it’s a different type of challenge. If I’d stayed at Celtic and continued to have success I’d view my career when it finished as a very good one and a very successful one.”
