DEREK MCINNES has given his astonishing take on his defender’s ‘challenge’ on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard last weekend.
The Aberdeen boss cannot believe the compliance officer has offered a two-match ban to Scott McKenna for something Brendan Rodgers went on record as calling ‘very reckless’.
What’s more, the Dons boss also believes Bobby Madden dealt with it at the time and it needed no further action.
Speaking ahead of Aberdeen’s match against St Mirren at the weekend, McInnes is surely trolling the Celtic support and doing his best to influence the appeal panel.
“We strongly deny the complaint regarding Scott, he cleared the ball, it wasn’t a lunge and I felt the referee dealt with it at the time.”
Madden did nothing to deal with anything at the time. He did not clear the ball and he lunged at the Celtic striker that should have not only warranted a penalty but a sending off for the former Celtic target.
Have a look again at this. A manager is always going to try and back his player but this goes beyond any sort of logic from McInnes.
