Striker Out – Rodgers Confirms Major Blow Ahead of Crunch Tie

After initially saying that Leigh was a doubt for today’s game against Hibernian it would appear the manager has a more definitive answer on his striker’s current fitness.

The Irishman revealed more details about Leigh’s injury after the striker ironically took the international break off to get fit.

The Scottish striker pulled up in training ‘early on’ in the break, Rodgers revealed.

Which means Leigh hasn’t really benefited from the time off at all and has spent the majority of the time nursing a calf injury and then falling ill into the bargain.

“Leigh is not available for Hibs.” Rodgers told SunSport.

“He got injured early on in the break and now he’s ill.

“It was a slight issue with his calf, so we shall see how he is. But Leigh made he right decision to miss the international games”

Leigh will now have to do extra work in training upon his return to get into the shape necessary to be a Celtic player.

In Celtic’s last two games before the break the Celtic frontman looked at sea and did very little in the game against St Johnstone where the bhoys managed 6 goals.

It will be up to him to make sure he does what’s needed in order to get game time under Rodgers.
