Gavin Strachan has cleared up any confusion surrounding the inclusion of Celtic defender Shane Duffy tonight, revealing that he is free to play the game.
As quoted by Sun Sport, there was some concern about the fact the Ireland captain was in the side, especially after assistant manager, John Kennedy had said he won’t feature in tonight’s game against Hibernian. However, Strachan confirmed that Duffy can feature after producing a negative Covid test and be reintroduced into the bubble.
“It’s been quite a hectic 48 hours, a lot of organising needed.
“From my side of things a lot of people have stepped up and we have a good support network around us.
“I got a phone call late yesterday finding out which players we had available.
“We just tried to make the most of a bad situation.
“We’ll be taking communication from Neil and John.
“As the club have said, we have followed protocols on what has been agreed and that’s our stance on it.
“He [Shane Duffy] comes back in on the back of a negative test and he’s back and ready to go again.”
After what has been a hectic day, as Strachan says all we would need is for some sort of confusion about if Duffy is or isn’t allowed to feature.
It has been confirmed though and the club won’t be breaking any rules by bringing Duffy back into the team, despite leaving Dubai and the team bubble early.
In the end, it looks as though it is key that the 28-year old is eligible, being the only experienced option at the back, Celtic have at the moment.
