STEVE CLARKE has hit out at Celtic for their celebrations yesterday insisting they were a little ‘over the top’ after his side conceded a very late goal against the Scottish Champions.
Clarke thought the fans coming onto the pitch was concerning but believed his team should take it as a ‘backhanded compliment’.
“I think you are always concerned when fans come on the pitch like that.” told RecordSport.
“The celebrations were probably a little bit over the top, it is a big compliment to Kilmarnock, that Celtic come here and celebrate a victory like that.
“So we will take it as a backhanded compliment.”
Celtic fans could not hide their delight at the very late winner which seen the bhoys pull eight points clear at the top of the league.
The frustration was there, the clock was running down and when it looked the like Celtic would fail to capitalise on The Rangers and Aberdeen slipping up on Saturday, BOOM Scott Brown put it in the back of the net.
The reaction from the players and fans told you how important the goal was. Out of context, the celebrations seem over the top but with the context that goal has more than likely sealed another title win, you can’t begrudge the fans and players for reacting as they did.
