Adam Idah’s future at Celtic has become a topic of speculation after the season has ended, with notable journalist Stephen McGowan expressing scepticism about the feasibility of a permanent transfer for the Irish striker.

Idah, who joined Celtic on a six-month loan from Norwich City in January without an option to buy, has quickly become a fan favourite after a series of crucial goals, including a last-minute winner against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.
Despite his pivotal role in securing the league title and his heroic cup final performance, doubts remain about Celtic’s potential financial commitment to securing Idah’s services on a permanent basis.
McGowan said on Graham Spiers’ Press Box podcast: “By the standards of Scottish football it would be an expensive backup striker. Anyone who says that they know for certain what the fee (to buy Idah) would be isn’t being honest. We’re presuming that it’s something in the region of seven million quid.
“The wages would have to be the upper end at Celtic of what they normally pay. It would be a heck of a lot of money for Celtic to pay for Kyogo’s understudy. But Brendan Rodgers has history in this. Odsonne Edouard came in when Moussa Dembele was still at the club.”
With the summer transfer window on the horizon, speculation about the future of Adam Idah will be rife. Brendan Rodgers has admitted he’d be keen to bring the striker back to Parkhead, describing him as a catalyst for the league and cup double.
It’s one to keep an eye on.
