Stats Giant Comments on Celtic Transfer

Ted Knutson, CEO of Stats Bomb has commented on Celtic’s sale of Ajer and how the stats based company has followed the defender since coming up in Norway.

Ajer moved to the Hoops when he was 17, and as Ted mentions below, he had the talent but he was a tall, skinny midfielder.

Coming to Celtic, he’s bulked up and became a ball playing, strong defender.

Stats Bomb has been one of the leaders in changing the game when it comes to analytics. They pour over the data and allow clubs to make better choices when it comes to recruitment and even how they approach the starting XI and tactics.

Ajer being followed since he started out in the game is interesting and it appears to suggest Brentford have been watching Kris for a long time.

We suspect Ajer will do well at Brentford once he settles in. A defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and who has a turn of pace if need be.

Celtic pocketed a large chunk of change for Ajer’s sale. It’s not been confirmed, however, we’d be surprised if Celtic don’t have a sell-on clause.
