An eagle-eyed stats buff on social media noticed quite the anomaly when it comes to the big two Glasgow sides getting penalties.
The two sides have the same number of penalties in the SPFL after the weekend when Reo Hatate was brought down in the box.
However, when it comes to when both clubs get their penalty decisions, there’s a clear disparity.
It’s quite irregular to see something so cut and dry as that.
Celtic will have led in more games this season earlier on. The Ibrox club have been handed a few penalties to help them draw level in games. A couple of their penalties not warranted but given when they were chasing the game.
As we go into the final five games, it’ll be interesting to see if this trend continues or if Celtic managed to land a penalty when they’re looking to take the lead. One thing about Ange Postecoglou’s men is they usually start very well. Maybe it will come if we’re having an off day.
