It looks like there’s going to be more drama this week as the SPFL get together again for an emergency meeting.
The proposal to end the lower leagues and have a strategic end to the Premiership if games can’t go ahead has failed by one vote not being cast.
This has left the proposal dead in the water unless Dundee cast their vote in the next few days.
It’s back to the drawing board with people looking for unity. It’s going to be bad for unity when self interest in the game is so prevalent.
The Rangers lead the way in this regard and while they want the money for finishing second, their ego of losing another title to Celtic has then no noughts.
Now the SPFL must look for a consensus, league reconstruction to stop relegation this season might be the way to go.
RecordSport claim the meeting will happen shortly.
‘Record Sport understands the SPFL board will hold an emergency meeting – most probably within the next 24 hours – to discuss a range of new emergency measures following the dramatic events on Friday night which have plunged Scottish football into chaos.’
