THE SPFL faces a considerable challenge regarding post–split scheduling should the top–six remain as it is.
Celtic, who are currently leading the way in the Premiership and look set on lifting the trophy in May, would have played the rest of the top 6 at home twice and should then be due to play the rest of the season away from home.
It’s the opposite for The Rangers, who should technically receive five home fixtures.
However, SPFL rules state that teams must play a minimum of two home matches and three away matches, meaning Celtic will have to play against two sides at home for the third time this season.
With two of the post-split matches to be played at Celtic Park, the Hoops could miss out on a trip to two of the following grounds;
Tynecastle, Easter Road, Pittodrie and/or the Tony Macaroni Arena.
On the other hand, Beale’s side would have to travel to two of the grounds for the third time this season.
The whole kafuffle has frustrated many fans, especially the rest of the top six, who could have to make the trip to Parkhead three times this season. Some will argue that this scenario is why the SPFL should look at scrapping the split, with the opinion heavily against it on social media.
