Scottish football has hit new heights, with the SPFL confirming a record-breaking season for attendances across all four divisions.

Over 5.3 million fans passed through the turnstiles in 2024/25 – the highest total since the league’s formation and nearly 185,000 more than last year’s record.

It’s the third season in a row that attendance records have been broken.

Celtic Park, once again, played a major part in those numbers. The club has consistently pulled in the biggest home crowds in the country, and away allocations for Celtic games often sell out quickly as well. The appetite to follow Brendan Rodgers’ side, both home and away, remains as fierce as ever – a key driver in these booming league-wide totals.

The SPFL issued a statement praising the “phenomenal” backing clubs have received and highlighting the importance of working with Police Scotland and the Scottish Government to ensure safe, enjoyable matchday experiences for everyone. The overwhelming majority of fans continue to contribute positively to the atmosphere and spectacle that defines Scottish football.

It was in the same statement that the SPFL revealed that Celtic would be facing disciplinary proceedings.

Amid rising season ticket prices and packed schedules, the figures do still show that fans are as invested as ever.
