Someone is Badly Advising Want Away Celtic Star – Opinion

A loving supporter can turn into a disgruntled critic of a player once they decide it’s time to leave the club – let’s not get what I’m going to say mixed up with that assertion. Kristoffer Ajer has been making noises about leaving Celtic and heading off to continue his career elsewhere, agents behind the scenes appear to be paving the way.

Celtic looking for another centre-back after bringing Shane Duffy in tells you they think Ajer might just be off.

I enjoyed Kristoffer Ajer a lot last season, his passion, his ability on the ball and his willingness to get forward and draw players in are all great traits. However, his defensive naivety, his ineffectualness at corners and his decision making aren’t quite up to scratch yet. So whoever is telling the player he should hotfoot it out of Celtic Park this summer is doing the Norweigan a disservice. It was his old agent back in March who got the ball rolling when he told RecordSport the player would NOT be signing on again with Celtic.

He’s not the finished article and he could be doing with at least another season at Celtic to continue on and improve, play under pressure and refine what he already has. Leaving now could be big business for the defender and his newly appointed agency, but is a mindless cash grab worth the risk.

I’ve always admired players who bet on themselves, the money might be there one season but if they have confidence in their own ability and have people around them who also hold a similar belief. You could counter-argue the point and say he believes in himself now to make the step up, most Celtic supporters who watch him weekly will largely back the belief he has room to improve in Glasgow. You see players jumping too early when there’s a lot of money on the table and agents don’t need to be asked twice to set up a multi-million-pound deal.

You have to feel the money is driving any deal. You could say he wasn’t to play in a better standard of league but when the SPFL isn’t a walk in the park for Kris, maybe he should think again.

In this writer’s humble opinion, I believe Kristoffer Ajer will be gone before the window closes in October. For how much money, I’m not sure, Kris will get the same treatment as others who have gone before, he’ll be sold for much more than we brought him in for and we will put a nice sell on clause into the mix.
