Sold By Brendan Rodgers; Former Celt Ready to Take on Hoops

Erik Sviatchenko and his teammates arrived in Glasgow on Monday afternoon to play the Hoops in their Champions League qualifier.

The player was linked with a return to Celtic just last month but will now come up against his former side for a place in the third round of the Champions League.

Erik is an invincible Celt — playing one season under Brendan Rodgers before the Irishman decided to send him out on loan to Midtjylland. Erik then penned a permanent deal and sealed his return to the Danish club the following summer.

We hope Erik is not going to join a list of players who come back to haunt Celtic after leaving the club.

We were discussing Joe Inge Berget being one of the players who left Celtic then turned up with Malmö and managed two goals against us at Celtic Park.

Both sides have their issues ahead of the game tonight. Both clubs are going through transitions and have a few players who want out.

It will be Ange Postecoglou’s first competitive match in charge of the team. He will have to go with a largely unchanged side from last season, made weaker by Ajer’s exclusion from the Europa squad.
