“When enough people make false promises, words stop meaning anything. Then there are no more answers, only better and better lies.” Jon Snow, Game of Thrones, Season 7 Episode 7.
Promises, promises, promises. What do they really mean? When you’re a member of the management or the Board at Celtic Football Club apparently they mean nothing. Dish them out to the hungry fans, tell them what they want to hear … then hope they will go away and forget what you promised in the first place.
It has been yet another summer of discontent for the ticket buying, replica shirt buying brigade, but what do they matter anyway? Who are they to question the Board? Why do they think they have a divine right to answers to valid questions? Their job is to fund the club from their hard-earned cash and be grateful for the opportunity to do so. When they raise an eyebrow about the quality of what they’re watching they are dismissed with contempt; not through the words of the club but certainly through actions or the lack of them. Again, who are they to question the Board at Celtic?
The time has come for the Board to realise that enough is enough. The time has come to stop ripping the hearts out of loyal fans who live and breathe Celtic. The time has come to stop telling lies. The time has come to invest in the squad and stop penny pinching. The time has come to deliver on your promises. That time is NOW. Hail Hail
