Sky Sports Verdict on Celtic Penalty; A Certain Pundit Won’t be Happy

Much has been made of the decision to give Celtic a penalty at Dingwall.

There’s a consensus it was harsh, but by the letter of the law and just by the penalties Celtic have conceded this season, it was a penalty kick.

Anybody claiming it’s not a penalty kick by today’s standards is being disingenuous at best and biased at worse.

In today’s Ref watch on Sky Sports, former EPL whistler Dermot Gallagher conceded while fans and refs might not like it — the rules state it’s a penalty and there was only going to be one decision once it went to VAR.

Celtic have been hounded with bad decisions all season, when they get a penalty they do deserve to get, there’s still a weird backlash.

The narrative this week in the run up to the derby will be the penalty kick and VAR again in the hope the officials will be influenced not to give Celtic anything during the derby.

Kris Boyd wouldn’t come out on Sky Sports TV yesterday and admit it was a penalty. Instead he tried to moan other teams haven’t got similar decision. Which means those teams have a right to feel aggrieved, but it doesn’t make this decision less of a penalty.
