Sky Sports Pundit Makes Very Surprising Celtic Claim

Celtic and Scottish football are usually given the patronising and put down treatment by pundits south of the border but former Arsenal man, Paul Merson has told Record Sport he has admiration for the Hoops and what they’ve achieved over the last nine seasons.

Celtic made it nine in a row, wiping the floor with the competition in the second half of last season to maker sure the title stayed in Paradise.

While nobody outside Scotland understands the real meaning of ten in a row, Merson believes what they have achieved can’t be underestimated. The Sky Sports pundit rightly points out that Celtic have to be on it week in and week out with every single team lifting their game to try and take their scalp.

It’s even more impressive the cup run they’re on with straight-up knock out football.

Merson said: “I watch Scottish football and the standard can be decent and then I watch it another time and there are some bad mistakes.

“But I really have respect for Celtic, being able to win nine titles on the trot. People will say they are not playing against anybody most weeks but that’s disrespectful.

“They play teams every week and it’s their cup final against Celtic. Teams want to beat Celtic so badly. The Celtic players need to be on it every week and that’s what I admire. It’s phenomenal.”

Celtic are heading into next season looking to make history, it won’t be easy considering the special circumstances we find football in at the moment. The supporters drive the players on, and for the time being, that won’t be there for the players.
