DAVIE PROVAN has poked fun at Jermain Defoe after the striker claimed it was only a matter of time before Celtic were toppled from their perch.
The 37-year-old has been in Glasgow for 18 months and is yet to get his hands on silverware.
It looked like Jermain and his team were up for the fight in December but it became apparent very quickly after the winter restart they didn’t have the stomach for the fight.
Celtic continued to turn the screw from January to March and ended up with a thirteen point gap before the shutdown. Jermain follows a list of many former and some current players from across the city who talk more than walk.
Former Celt and Sky Sports pundit Davie Provan pointed out the bottle needed to become the champions and that was severely lacking from Jermain and his pals.
Writing in his SunSport column, Provan said:
I’LL have a pint of whatever Jermain Defoe’s drinking. Asked when Rangers will win the league, the striker says: “I do genuinely believe it’s only a matter of time. The club has everything it needs to be successful, even down to the food we’re eating at the training ground.”
“Sorry, but Gers had their chance this season and couldn’t walk the walk. Until they match Celtic for bottle, it’ll be more humble pie”
Brutal, but it’s hard to disagree.
