Former Celtic player and Sky Sports pundit Davie Provan has slammed the club over the current hunt for the next permanent manager of the club.
Writing in his weekly column for Sun Sport, Provan has hit out at the amount of time it is taking for the board to appoint the next manager to take over next season, even jokingly claiming that they must be in talks to bring former manager, Ronny Deila back to the club.
“Even by the standards of this dysfunctional Hoops board, it’s becoming farcical. Maybe they’re trying to talk Ronny Deila into a comeback. Not sure this is a time for humour when there’s so much on the line next season. What is so difficult about finding a proper football coach? They’ve had months to find the right man.
“Lennon’s time was up back on January 2 when Celts lost at Ibrox. You could even argue his fate was sealed last November when Sparta Prague took eight off Celtic over two Europa League games and Ross County bumped them out of the League Cup.
“He was only keeping the seat warm after supporters stormed the barricades. So much for succession planning.”
As much as it may be frustrating having to wait for more news on who will be the next manager of the club and lead us into a near era with the up-and-coming rebuild in the summer.
However, it wasn’t long ago we were complaining about Neil Lennon being appointed too quickly in the showers of Hampden Park in 2019.
So whilst we await more news, hopefully, it won’t be too long before we know who the man to take us forward it. But, this appointment is absolutely crucial and one we must get right.
