Sky Sports Man Quashes £17m Celtic Rumour

Getting caught up in the excitement of potential new signings is easy. However, as Celtic fans, we must separate fact from fiction. One such rumour that has been making the rounds is the potential signing of Leicester City’s star, Wilfred Ndidi [MailSport]. However, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, this is a rumour that we can put to bed.

Joseph, a reliable source for all things Celtic, has confirmed that the club is not currently pursuing Ndidi. The Nigerian midfielder, valued at around £15m, has been linked with a move to Celtic Park following the return of Brendan Rodgers. However, Joseph has stated that he would be surprised if this transfer materialised.

Ndidi, who has been a key player for Leicester since his arrival in 2017, was rumoured to be available following Leicester’s unfortunate relegation to the Championship. Despite the speculation, Joseph has clarified that Ndidi is not a priority for Celtic in this transfer window. He told GiveMeSport, “I don’t believe Ndidi is a player Celtic are looking to sign in this window, certainly not one of the top targets or even middle-range targets at all.”

Joseph further suggested that if Rodgers were to bring in anyone from Leicester, it would likely be a player from the younger teams or someone who has shown potential in the younger age groups and is breaking into the first team.

While Ndidi’s defensive prowess is undeniable, it seems that a move to the Scottish Premiership is not on the cards. The question of whether Celtic could afford him, Leicester signed him for around £17m [TransferMarkt] and whether Ndidi would be willing to move to Scotland also remains — file under nonsense.
