Former Celtic player Davie Provan has been giving his prediction for today’s Glasgow Derby.
Usually he’s quite negative on his former club’s chances but he’s backed the Hoops to do the business at Ibrox.
Provan believes Celtic have shown they’re more than a match for the Ibrox club over 90 minutes and that’s why he thinks they can do it today.
Writing in his SunSport column, the Sky Sport man said:
“IF Rangers lose this game, they have still had a terrific season.
“A Celtic defeat would complete a disastrous campaign for the Hoops. That’s why I fancy John Kennedy’s side.
“The last two derbies have shown Celts are more than a match for Gers over 90 minutes, they just couldn’t match the consistency of Steven Gerrard’s team over a whole campaign.
“If Kennedy is to have any chance of landing the job permanently, he’ll need more from his dressing room than they gave Neil Lennon.”
Celtic will go into a rebuild this summer with many of the current squad heading away.
There’s two schools of thought with the approach to the game. Do some of these players switch off, knowing they’ll be gone soon enough anyway or will they try and pay the fans back for a season of disappointment?
Only time will tell, and while we’re a match for the home side on the park. Mentally, they have an edge.
