Sky Sports Man Confirms Ambitious Celtic Move Now ‘Unlikely’

Celtic have been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Ko Itakura for the past month or so.

The Japanese defender spent last season out on loan to FC Groningen but is now looking for his next move in the game knowing he will not get any game time under Pep Guardiola.

The centre-back has one-year left on his City deal and despite the interest from Celtic, Sky Sports man Anthony Joseph has claimed Ko will not join the Glasgow club this window.

Celtic have already brought one centre-back into the club this summer in Carl Starfelt but after the departure of both Shane Duffy and Kristoffer Ajer there’s still room for another centre-back to come in and be competitive.

Right now, it looks as if the club will be looking elsewhere.

Ko looks like a great option but if a move can’t be negotiated the club must promptly look at their other options. One thing we’ve noticed about Celtic this summer, they have identified a number of targets and have made sure all their eggs aren’t in one basket.
