Sky Sports have this afternoon jumped on the Celtic Eddie Howe train while it was already moving.

The broadcaster confirmed the talks between the club and the English manager but only have gone as far as saying he’s been contacted about the role.

It’s further down the line than that at this point and there’s a real possibility it could be in the offing.

Nothing has been agreed and talks are still ongoing as far as we understand.

As the Sky Sports report says, the club have been impressed with Eddie as a candidate and believe he could be the man to take the Hoops forward.

Nothing is ever done until things are signed. Celtic fans know that all too well after watching the club miss out on Ben Davies earlier this season.

How would be a welcome departure from the previous manager and if he does get the gig, we hope he’s given the autonomy he needs to succeed.
