Seven Celtic Players Out of Contract in the Next 12 Months

Celtic have a lot of work to do in the transfer market but we seem incapable of getting anything done in a timely manner.

As we approach pre-season; the number of decisions that need to be made very quickly is frightening.

There are currently SEVEN players who will be approaching the final year of their contract come June 1st.

Leigh Griffiths*, Anthony Ralston, Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer, Ewan Henderson, Karamoko Dembele and Ryan Christie has just six months left on his Celtic deal.

We have an asterisk next to Leigh’s name because the Hoops have yet to trigger his year extension. It would appear to us that come the 1st of June, Leigh would technically be a free agent.

No manager in place makes that decision impossible to make.

In those six, you’ve got three guys who are likely looking to leave: Ajer, Eddy and Christie. Getting a decent amount of cash for all three must be the goal and it has to happen as quickly as possible.

Henderson has been stifled under Neil Lennon after showing promising signs under Brendan Rodgers before he left – is there a future for the midfielder at the club?

Ralston seems like an open and shut case and if he wants first team football, it’s time to head out elsewhere.

Karamoko is a strange one. We thought his deal was up this summer. Do we play and develop the winger in our first team only for him to sign a pre-contact with another club in January. A new manager would likely seek assurances he would like to stay at Celtic if the game time is there.

Cleaning up the squad is ridiculously important and has to be looked at straight away.
