The talkSport co-host has questioned whether Rodgers would be a good fit for the Scottish club, and expressed surprise at the prospect of the manager “skulking” back to Scotland.

Celtic’s Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay recently jetted off to Mallorca to discuss the possibility of Rodgers replacing current manager Ange Postecoglou.

Rodgers, who had a highly successful two-and-a-half-year stint with Celtic, winning every domestic competition he entered and going unbeaten in his first campaign, left the club for Leicester City in February 2019.

His departure, however, left a bitter taste in the mouths of many Celtic fans.

Jordan believes that this lingering resentment could pose a problem for both Rodgers and the club.

He also suggested that Rodgers might demand a higher salary than Celtic should be willing to pay.

According to Jordan, Rodgers’ performance in his final season with the Foxes should be the benchmark for his potential return to Celtic, rather than his past successes.

He said: [TalkSPORT]

“Brendan Rodgers did a great job at Celtic and in recent times hasn’t done a great job. Depends what Brendan Rodgers you’re getting.

“I would be surprised if that was a route either party wanted to go down. If Celtic fans are disappointed with the way he’s left. Brendan Rodgers was responsible, in part, for this team being relegated. Is that good enough for Celtic? You have to be judged on your last job. I don’t think it’s a good fit.

“I don’t think there’s a benefit in going back, and you need to move on. It’ll be interesting to see what’s on offer because after the last 12 months, I don’t think he’ll be a highly sought-after commodity for the high-echelon clubs.

“At best for Brendan Rodgers, it’ll be a sideways move from what Leicester were, not what he turned them into. I just think going back to Celtic would create more challenges than solutions. Winning things makes people happy but I’d be surprised economically it doesn’t seem to be a fit in terms of salary and he thinks he should be managing.

“He went to Scotland to come back to the Premier League. So it would be a strange dynamic to skulk back to Scotland.”
