Former Celtic player and assistant manager John Collins say, legendary captain, Scott Brown should have been replaced before this season.
As reported by BBC Sport, Collins believes that the club should have had a ready replacement in by now for the 35-year old who is coming close to the end of his footballing career.
“I’m a huge admirer of him,” Collins said.
“I sold him to Celtic when I was Hibs manager, he’s been a great servant. But at 35 years of age, he should have been replaced.
“I was 35 and it came to me as well. The brain’s saying one thing but the legs don’t get across the pitch.”
It is fair to say that we have seen a big drop off in Brown’s performance in what has been a poor season for not only himself but also the side.
At times he has been replaced in the side by Ivorian midfielder Ismaila Soro who has impressed a lot of supporters after seeing his first consecutive run in Neil Lennon’s side.
So far, there hasn’t been any sort of suggestion that Brown will sign yet another extension at the club, so it will be an interesting few months to see if anything develops on that side of things.
I think many could argue that Soro has the potential to be that replacement for the long-term. However, going into next season he will need help in that position, so it is likely we will see a player incoming in that area on the pitch.
