Celtic fans have been treated to an upturn in form from South Korean winger Yang Hyun-Jun in recent weeks, and former captain and manager Neil Lennon has been quick to praise his development. After scoring a goal off the bench in Celtic’s 5-1 win over Aberdeen last night, along with an assist against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League a fortnight ago, Yang is starting to show signs of the player Celtic hoped he could become.

A Resurgent Yang Hyun-Jun
With three goals in his last eight appearances across all competitions, Yang’s form has been steadily improving, earning him more opportunities in the team. Lennon, who knows a thing or two about Celtic players, believes that Yang is making significant improvements in his game. The winger has also notched up five assists in 1,001 minutes of first-team football this season, highlighting his growing influence in attack.
“He is another player who is improving all the time,” Lennon said (Sky Sports). “He is getting goals and getting involved in the game. This is a great little one-two with McCowan. Nice first touch and he slides it into the near post.”
Lennon’s High Praise for the South Korean
Lennon’s analysis reflects Yang’s development under Rodgers, who has always been known for his ability to get the best out of young players. “He’s bright. Sharper. He looks stronger this year and he is making a significant contribution to the team and the squad,” Lennon continued.
The 22-year-old’s work ethic and increasing sharpness on the pitch have caught the eye, and Lennon believes that Celtic fans are beginning to see a more confident player. His ability to contribute both with goals and assists has certainly made a noticeable difference in recent weeks.

A Fantastic Fourth Goal for Celtic
Lennon also praised Celtic’s Yang’s goal in the 5-1 win over Aberdeen, emphasising the quality of Celtic’s play. “Take nothing away from Celtic (for the fourth goal). It was a 17-pass move and a spell in a game where they were totally dominant,” he noted. It was a perfect example of the fluid, quick passing style that Rodgers has instilled in his squad.
With Yang’s continued improvement, Celtic supporters will be hoping to see even more from the South Korean as the season progresses. His ability to impact games, both with goals and assists, is beginning to make him a player who has gone from halfway out the door to in with a real chance of breaking into the starting XI over the next 12 months.
