The Nottingham post have been reporting comments from former Celtic defender Adam Virgo which claims Chris Hughton would be undeterred by Shane Duffy’s Celtic form and could make a move for the on-loan defender.

Hughton and Duffy have worked with each other at Brighton and Virgo believes the manager wouldn’t hesitate to reunite with the centre back if he became available this month or in the summer.

Duffy has endured a difficult first half of the season and it didn’t get much better for him during his cameo at Ibrox. The defender could have been sent off for a lunge and he looked a bag of nerves as he gave the ball away.

Many Celtic fans would like to see the loan deal cut short so the club can pursue other targets. However, there’s nothing to suggest Celtic will part ways with the Irishman before the end of the season.

If there was sufficient interest, there could be movement but right now it looks unlikely.

Celtic need at least one centre back in st the moment never mind getting rid of one.

Duffy left Celtic’s Dubai training camp after one day for personal reasons.
