Shamrock Rovers are still pushing to bring Johnny Kenny back for another loan spell, with the Irish club needing to finalise a deal by midnight on Thursday for him to be eligible to face Molde in their upcoming European tie.

While it appeared unlikely after Kenny played in Celtic’s win over Ross County at the start of January, the move is now being properly considered—a decision that could leave Celtic dangerously short in the striker department.
Shamrock Rovers still retain hope of bringing Johnny Kenny back for one more loan spell – would need to be signed by midnight Thurs to play v Molde. Did feel it was a long shot after Ross County game but it is properly being considered now. Can’t go anywhere else under FIFA rules

If Kenny does leave, Celtic would be left with just Adam Idah and Daniel Cummings as their only recognised strikers. However, with Cummings having signed a pre-contract with West Ham, his long-term future lies away from Celtic Park.
That would leave Idah as the only natural first-team centre-forward, forcing Brendan Rodgers to consider alternative solutions for the remainder of the season.
One option could be Daizen Maeda leading the line, with Jota and Nicolas Kuhn occupying the wide positions. However, that would then weaken Celtic’s depth on the flanks, especially after Luis Palma’s loan move to Olympiacos.
With the transfer window closing in just under an hour, no new striker has yet been signed, leaving serious questions over whether Celtic will allow Kenny to depart without securing further reinforcements.
As the clock ticks down, Rodgers and the Celtic board must decide if letting Kenny leave makes sense—or if keeping him is a necessity given the squad’s current limitations.
