THE SFA have today released a full written statement to give more insight into why Ibrox defender got away with violent conduct on Celtic captain Scott Brown.
The former Liverpool trainee landed an elbow on Brown during the last Glasgow Derby of the season in May and was yellow carded for the incident. Pictures clearly showed the severity of the incident and the SFA made the decision to cite the defender and bring him in front of a panel.
The whole of Scottish football was amazed when Flanagan walked free from the charge, and when we say the whole of Scottish football, even Derek Johnstone was amazed!
Celtic released a statement in the aftermath of the verdict calling the appeals process a joke.
Today the SFA write Flanagan saying he didn’t hit Brown’s face along with the referee acting at the time was enough to get the defender go free.
