The SFA have tonight opened a can of worms by retrospectively banning Ryan Christie for a grab on Alfredo Morelos, months after the Colombian faced zero punishment for doing the exact same thing to The Celtic midfielder.
The player was cited on Hogmanay fat the SFA and a fast track hearing was held today to determine the outcome of the charge.
RecordSport revealed the player has been banned for three matches by the governing body.
Celtic couldn’t believe it when their player had been cited and they will be even more astounded at the outcome.
The SFA not consistently applying the rules across the board leaves them open to the heaviest of criticism.
The Rangers player clearly seen above in a Glasgow Derby doing the exact same thing to Ryan with no consequences. Has the Ibrox clubs false narrative of the player being somehow a victim played a part in both not being pulled up in the past and Ryan Christie receiving the ban?
The only silver lining here is the player has just come back from an op and would likely miss a few fixtures on Celtic’s return to action this month.
