SFA Hand Referee First Ever Glasgow Derby

There will be a debut in the Glasgow Derby this weekend but it won’t be for either side!

It’s the man in the middle who will be refereeing a Glasgow Derby for the first time.

The Scottish Football Association has announced referee Nick Walsh has been given the tie for Sunday.

Given this game is usually officiated by three or four of the SFA favourites, Walsh will get his chance to referee the game.

As Glasgow Derbies go, it should be one of the more uneventful ones and a game where Walsh can find his feet at this level.

No crowd and the game effectively a dead rubber means there’s less pressure on everyone going into the game.

Derbies are still hotly contested even under these circumstances so Walsh will still have to keep his wits about him.

Celtic have a chance to stop the newly crowned champions from going the full Premiership season unbeaten – so there is a bit of an incentive.
