SFA Confirm VAR Official for Celtic tie

Celtic take on Livingston at Parkhead on Wednesday evening. The bhoys will be looking to at least maintain their nine point lead at the top by overcoming David Martindale’s side.

The Hoops just came off another victory at Tannadice. A 2-0 win for the champions thanks to goals from Jota and Aaron Mooy.

The referees and the decisions they make with VAR in place is under the microscope at the moment.

Celtic had a penalty rescinded due to VAR at Dundee and the referee also missed a second yellow for Dundee Utd after the intentional hand ball.

Despite having the technology available to help them get the correct decisions, we’re seeing more and more strange decisions. It becomes more infuriating when these things are happening still when refs can no longer use the excuse of calling it in the moment.

Celtic will be hoping for the referee and VAR to do their job on Wednesday night. When you take into consideration the heavy handed tactics Livi use, it’s imperative we see the officials get the big calls right.

The SFA have announced Nick Walsh will be the man in the middle for the midweek tie and Colin Steven will be the man watching things in the VAR room.
