SFA Approve ‘Emergency Payments’ to Scottish Clubs

The SFA have tonight confirmed a £1.5m emergency fund will be distributed within Scottish football for clubs hit heavily by the shut down last week.

Some clubs are in financial difficulty and rely on their match day revenue to stay afloat. With no games happening for the foreseeable future the very existence of some clubs within our game has been brought into question.

This fund is seemingly to stop the short term pain caused by this shut down and make sure clubs can meet their financial obligations.

No word yet on how this will be handed out and to who. Not every club will need the assistance at this time.

Celtic wouldn’t need this to keep going, would any other clubs in Glasgow benefit from a cash injection, no matter how small?

Right now, there’s so much uncertainty surrounding the game. It’s important the governing body helps as many clubs as possible to stave off the threat of an insolvency event.
