Kasper Schmeichel gets the nod in goal after a steady season between the posts, bringing experience and composure to Brendan Rodgers’ side following his arrival in the summer. He’s since had his contract extended until the end of next season. In front of him, Celtic duo Alistair Johnston and Cameron Carter-Vickers anchor the back line alongside Hibernian’s Rocky Bushiri and Nicky Cadden.

In midfield, captain Callum McGregor takes his usual spot, recognised once again for his leadership and consistency, in what has been one of his best seasons in his Celtic career. He’s joined by Reo Hatate, who had put injury behind him and become a key player in the title win, as well as Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda. Both attackers have chipped in with key moments across the season, with Kuhn adding creative spark and Maeda offering relentless running and vital goals.

Rangers’ Vaclav Cerny is the only Ibrox representative in the side, and that was probably Boyd ensuring his beloved side got at least one recognition.

The selection comes after Celtic wrapped up a domestic double, falling just short of a treble after losing the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen on penalties. Despite that disappointment, the high number of inclusions in this Team of the Season is further evidence of the quality and depth Rodgers had at his disposal.
