Reports have suggested that VAR technology could be introduced into Scottish football quicker than expected [Daily Record].
Everything about season 2022/23 is all a bit different with the Champions kicking their league season off at 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon.
As well as that, clubs will also experience a first with the World Cup being held in November.
After the winter break ends club will return back to play domestic football but are in for a new addition with VAR set to be introduced.
The technology was voted on in April this year but came with some controversy as many fans didn’t like the idea of more inconclusive decisions that could potentially cost them points.
With this in mind although the reason for the delay was said to be due to logistical reasons it now appears that there is an appetite to have the technology introduced quicker with it being understood that there is now a collective in place to speed up the process.
Many fans of SPFL teams don’t think the technology will make to much of a difference due to the fact that the same part-time referees will still be in charge and making the big calls.
Some would have preferred to have seen referees become full-time first before making this step but we await to see how it goes.
