RUMOURS circulating Social Media suggested that Scott Brown left Aberdeen because he didn’t see eye to eye with the new gaffer, Jim Goodwin. However, the Dons boss has denied these rumours.
The former Celtic captain announced he was hanging up his boots but was taking a step back to decide his next steps in his career. It’s no secret that Scott wants to go into coaching, and he was linked to the St Mirren job while at Aberdeen.
After news of his departure broke, he was tipped to join Neil Lennon in Cyprus, Brendan Rodgers down south, and Celtic’s youth system.
Today, Goodwin told the Daily Record that the pair “left on good terms”.
“He was very understanding of my situation here. Scott came to Aberdeen with the previous management team to get some coaching experience. I’m quite hands-on as a manager. I do a lot of the day-to-day stuff. There really wasn’t going to be an opportunity for Scott on that front.

“Also on the playing side of things, we’ve got quite a few midfielders and I didn’t feel Scott was going to play regularly between now and the end of the season. He kind of agreed maybe it was best we part company. But I have to say, he was an absolute pleasure to deal with.
“I didn’t know him before he came in. We had a few good tussles on the pitch as players and he was exactly what I expected. He was a model professional around the place, well-liked within the dressing room and he left with a shake of the hand.”
Scott Brown will be assessing his options before jumping back into a job.
Things never went as planned in the North East for Scott, but he is still very early into his coaching journey. There is no doubt he will be back on the scene shortly.
