Celtic legend Scott Brown was named as the new Head Coach of Scottish Championship side Ayr United earlier in the week. It was a blockbuster appointment from the Somerset Park side.
Brown had a previous spell in management with Fleetwood Town, spending over a year at the club. During this time, he helped them to avoid relegation from English League Two when he initially came in in May 2022 before guiding them to a thirteenth-place finish the following season.
As well as this, Brown led Fleetwood to their best-ever FA Cup run. Now, he is set to dip his toe back into the water.
Upon appointment at Ayr, the quadruple-treble-winning skipper admitted he will look to fully utilise the contacts he has built up in football over the years. When asked if he will look to Celtic for potential additions to his Ayr team, Brown replied (The Celtic Way): “Everyone wants to try to get the best out of their contacts.”

Over the years, the 38-year-old will have built up an impressive phone book. Having worked with some top players and managers, Brown has many people to go to for guidance.
He fully understands this and in his first Ayr press conference, the new gaffer of the Honest Men name-dropped two Celtic greats, admitting that he can give them a call for advice whenever needs be: “It’s always good to know that if we are struggling at any point in time Gordon is a phone call away and Brendan is a phone call away”, he said (The Celtic Way).
“They are always helpful. Always.”
