Scott Brown Ends Exit Links with Latest Move

Scott Brown has decisively ended speculation about a potential move to St Johnstone by signing a new one-year extension with Ayr United, ensuring his stay at Somerset Park until 2027.

This decision comes after Brown was in negotiations with St Johnstone’s American owner, Adam Webb, about possibly replacing the recently sacked Craig Levein as manager at McDiarmid Park.

However, discussions fell through on Wednesday evening when Brown chose to walk away from the negotiating table. It is reported that he was not comfortable with several demands made by Webb and was reluctant to be part of what he perceived as a competition with other potential candidates like Larne manager Tieran Lynch and Aberdeen coach Peter Leven. By choosing to remain with Ayr United, Brown believes he has a stronger prospect of managing in the top flight next season.

He’s got the side playing some great football this season and sits top of the league. Falkirk is second on goal difference but has played two fewer games.

Ayr United is expected to formally announce the contract extension within the next 24 hours, reaffirming Brown’s commitment to the club and definitely ending any links away from the side, at least for the next few months.
