Scott Bain has brought his long spell at Celtic to an end, joining top-flight newcomers Falkirk ahead of the new season.

Before making the move, Bain spoke with people he trusted, including ex-Celtic team-mate Joe Hart and goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods. After those conversations and learning more about Falkirk’s style of play, he felt it was the right move for him.
Bain had already worked with McGlynn during the manager’s time behind the scenes at Celtic, so he knew what to expect from the way Falkirk set up. That connection made the decision easier and gave him confidence in the direction the club was heading.
Now 33, Bain has quickly settled in with his new team and is looking forward to helping Falkirk handle the step up to Premiership football.
He said: (RecordSport), “I spoke to Stevie when that decision was made I would leave the club. Stevie recommended that Falkirk and the gaffer would be a great place for me because of the style of play.
“I spoke to Harty and asked what he thought of the options. Once we spoke about how the club play, it was a no-brainer.
“The boys are fantastic here. The camaraderie and team spirit is fantastic – that’s been one of the things that when I joined I made the correct decision.
“The manager knows how he wants to play, he’s done that for a number of years now and is set on that. There are similarities there between Celtic and Falkirk.
“I think coming to the club I’ve been able to help things here and there that I think can make us better. It’s great football to watch and play in, it really is.
“The opportunity to play and work under the manager, who I knew from Celtic, was a big part in joining Falkirk.”
Bain’s move ends a long spell at Celtic where he picked up trophies and worked under several managers, though he didn’t play much in recent seasons. With Joe Hart stepping away and Celtic changing things in goal, Bain felt it was the right time to look for more regular game time.

Falkirk, back in the Premiership after winning promotion, are aiming to prove themselves at the top level again. Bain’s know-how from playing at the highest level in Scotland could be a big help as the squad adjusts to life in the top flight.
He’s now joined a team with big plans, led by a manager he knows well and playing a style of football that suits him. Bain believes he can make a difference both on the park and in the dressing room, and it looks like a good fit all round.
