Scott Bain has revealed how long-time Celtic goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods played a key role in his move to Falkirk, bringing an end to his seven-and-a-half-year spell at Parkhead.

Bain, who had found game time limited at Celtic in recent seasons, explained how the move came together through a mix of old connections and mutual respect.
He said [Falkirk Herald]: “I know John from my time at Celtic and his time at Celtic.
“I had come to an agreement with the club that I was going to be leaving.
“Stevie Woods spoke to John and gave him a heads up about my situation, and when I spoke to the manager, and having watched Falkirk and the way they play, I think it was a no-brainer for me that this is a club that I was going to come to.”
Bain’s relationship with Falkirk manager John McGlynn, as well as Woods’ recommendation, appears to have smoothed the path for the move. His departure marks the latest change in Celtic’s goalkeeping department, with Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo, and Ross Doohan set to be the main options between the sticks.

Bain joined Celtic from Dundee in 2018 and made over 70 appearances for the club. Though he started as a regular, he gradually fell behind in the pecking order under multiple managers. His experience, however, will be a significant asset to a Falkirk side looking to cement their top-flight status.
With his move to Falkirk now confirmed, Bain will be aiming to reignite his career at a club where he feels that he can make a massive difference. The goalkeeper’s move shows how important Stevie Woods still is, with his work behind the scenes helping players even after they’ve left Celtic.
