Scotland Captain Lauds “Different Class” Anthony Ralston

Scotland captain Andy Robertson has come to the defence of Anthony Ralston after a critical error in their Euro 2024 match against Switzerland, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Despite the mistake leading to Switzerland’s equalising goal, Robertson praised the Celtic defender’s overall performance.

Scotland initially took the lead through a Scott McTominay goal but was pegged back after Ralston’s misjudged backpass allowed Xherdan Shaqiri to score. While the error could have dampened spirits, Ralston’s response impressed his team captain.

Robertson highlighted Ralston’s resilience and impact in the second half of the match. “Tony Ralston was unbelievable after that mistake,” Robertson stated live on BBC post-match. “He was different class in the second half.”

The Scotland skipper’s support underscores the team’s spirit and the personal strength Ralston displayed, bouncing back during a crucial fixture. Scotland now faces a must-win situation in their weekend match against Hungary to keep their Euro 2024 hopes alive.

Ralston, typically not a first-choice starter, has stepped into the lineup due to injuries and has acquitted himself well despite the high stakes. His performance, following the error, could play a pivotal role in Scotland’s campaign moving forward.

McGregor played well last night, too. He set up Scott McTominay’s opener and the Celtic X account took a tremendous dig at Graeme Souness after it.
