Schmeichel’s Humble Post-Match Reaction Proves Why He’s a Winner

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has followed up from a Man of the Match performance against Hibernian this afternoon with a Man of the Match post-match interview.

Schmeichel, who was in top form against David Gray’s side, and with most well aware of his already incredible career, which saw him win the FA Cup and the English Premier League with Leicester City.

Celtic supporters were aware of what he had already achieved, but he has shown this season that he has a few more years ahead of him, with World Cup aspirations for 2026.

He appears set to continue his successful career in Glasgow.

Schmeichel said: (Celtic TV), “Goalkeeping has evolved. It’s rare that you have games like that where you have a lot of saves. Everything is with your feet these days.

“I think that’s the role that I play here, but my job is to keep the ball out of the net and today was a good day.

“At the end of the day it’s all about winning. Clean sheets are nice but they’re not the most important thing. They’re not the end of the world, but it always gives you a platform to go and win.

“My job is to keep the team in the game and it’s up to this lot to go and finish the game off.”

To be so humble and not make the win about himself shows that such an experienced goalkeeper knows how to win.

Of course, the Dane is delighted to keep a clean sheet, but if he does so and Celtic draw 0-0, it does not have the same impact.

Schmeichel has proved an inspired signing, and to sign a 38-year-old goalkeeper and receive so much recognition shows how well he has done in just 5 months at Celtic.
