Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has received a cautiously optimistic update regarding the shoulder injury he sustained while on international duty with Denmark.

The 38-year-old picked up the knock during the extra-time period of Denmark’s Nations League play-off defeat to Portugal.
Denmark manager Brian Riemer confirmed Schmeichel is indeed injured but moved to ease fears about the severity of the issue.
Although an X-ray has ruled out a fracture or any career-threatening damage, the goalkeeper will still undergo an MRI scan to fully determine the extent of the injury.
“Now he is injured, but whether he will be out for a few weeks or longer, we don’t know yet, but he requires attention,” he said to Ekstra Bladet.
“The positive thing is that examinations have shown that it isn’t a fracture and something that is career-threatening.”
The injury occurred late in the match, with Schmeichel visibly struggling yet forced to remain on the pitch as Denmark had exhausted their substitutions.
With Celtic due to face Hearts on Saturday, Schmeichel is already ruled out for that match. Viljami Sinisalo looks set to make his first league start for the Hoops, having only made one senior appearance so far in the Scottish Cup.
While the full prognosis isn’t yet known, the initial signs are that Celtic will be without their No.1 for at least a few weeks. Rodgers and his staff will now await the MRI results, hoping that the veteran’s absence won’t stretch into the title run-in.
