Ryan Christie’s New Lease Of Life Under Postecoglou

Going into this season, many fans expected that midfielder Ryan Christie would be one of the players exiting this summer.

With his current contract going into the final year and his performances last season not being up to scratch (similar to most in the squad), it just felt like the time may have come where he wanted to move on, and some supporters made their feelings clear that they felt the same way.

However, in the early days of new boss Ange Postecoglou, the 26-year old has shown signs of a new life lease under the former Socceroos manager.

On Tuesday night, the attacking midfielder was very impressive, propping up in several different positions, including on the left side of midfield.

Yesterday, that trend appeared to continue at times as he grabbed a goal set up by new signing Liel Abada.

Under Ange, Chrisite seems to suit the 55-year olds attacking, high-intensity play style. With his energy and ability to drive with the ball, he feels like one of the players in this squad who Postecoglou will love with that work ethic.

Of course, the contract issues still loom large over the attacking midfielder, which means that uncertainty remains.

If he continues to put in good displays, though and enjoys playing under Postecoglou, then there is a chance that Christie might be convinced to stay on under the new manager.

Ideally, this issue needs to be resolved quickly, or we must come to a solution at some point in the near future.

For now, though, let’s hope we can continue to see Christie impress in the midfield and keep up this good level of performance we have seen in recent games.
