Former Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has suffered the heartbreak of bringing his season to a premature end after deciding to undergo surgery to resolve a persistent groin injury.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who has enjoyed a strong campaign at Bournemouth has been managing the chronic issue for some time. Christie has struggled to play 90 minutes for the cherries in recent times.
With the problem failing to subside, Christie has now taken the decision to fast-track surgery, drawing a line under his season. It’s a blow for Bournemouth, who have leaned heavily on the Scotland international. He has really come into his own in the EPL.
The Inverness-born midfielder joined Bournemouth from Celtic in 2021, having made over 100 appearances for the Hoops, winning multiple honours including a treble under Brendan Rodgers.
Ryan was a brilliant servant for Celtic and he wouldn’t have taken the decision lightly. It’s best to be fit and ready for pre-season rather than see out the rest of this one.
